what

we do

All of the money that is raised through fundraising goes towards our projects and the people we help. We don’t spend any on admin and have no employees!

Forward Motion Grants

With the help of all our fundraisers and people who have donated to the Charity, we have managed to raise funds to support more than 135 athletes across 23 sports with funding to help assist with their involvement in sport such as competition fees, training and equipment. We have helped athletes with complete prosthetics costing between £5000 and £12000 and have used the Forward Motion grants to help complete beginners to Paralympic Champions!

The grants have enabled the recipients to pursue more options within sport and we are looking to run two rounds of grants a year, depending on funding. Please click on the Forward motion Grants for more information.

Events and challenges

We have the two events which have been set up specifically to give people with disabilities the opportunity to get involved in sport. The tri and para tri  festival at Dorney Lake, Berkshire has a whole range of distances and options to encourage all abilities to take part in some way.  We are really keen to promote the relay and mixed relay aspects of the event to encourage more people to take part! In 2019, we will be hosting the British Paratriathlon championships as part of the festival and this will be a great opportunity to see the best british paratriathletes racing and take part on the same course.

The Junior Paratriathlon was set up to provide a free opportunity to juniors aged 5-18 to get involved in a new sport and will be in it’s sixth year in 2019. The event is completely flexible and encourages a positive atmosphere focusing on personal achievement not times or places!
Please click on the Events pages for more information.

If you have any equipment you could donate to us, please contact us at thearcticonefoundation@gmail.com

We have also set up a Summer and Winter challenge which offers participants the opportunity to complete various achievable challenges over a set period without the pressure of attending an event. The feedback has been incredibly positive with many people become much more active than they previously were.
