what

we do

All of the money that is raised through fundraising goes towards our projects and the people we help. We don’t spend any on admin and have no employees!

Athlete Funding Support

With the help of all our fundraisers and people who have donated to the Charity, we have managed to raise funds to support more than 100 athletes with funding to help assist with their involvement in sport such as competition fees, training and equipment. We have helped athletes with complete prosthetics costing between £5000 and £12000 and have used the Forward Motion grants to help complete beginners to Paralympic Champions!

The grants have enabled the recipients to pursue more options within sport and we are looking to run two rounds of grants a year, depending on funding. Please click on the Forward motion Grants for more information.

Events

We have the three events which have been set up specifically to give people with disabilities the opportunity to get involved in sport. We have two Tri and Para Tri Festivals at Dorney Lake, Berkshire with a whole range of events to take part in. We are trying to really promote the relay aspects to encourage more people to take part! In 2018, we will be hosting an ITU Paratriathlon World Cup Event and the British Paratriathlon championships. These will be incorporated into the Tri and Para Tri Festivals and are a great opportunity to so see the best paratriathletes in the world competing and then compete on the same course!

The Junior Paratriathlon was set up to get a free opportunity to juniors aged 5-18 to get involved in a new sport and will be in it’s fifth year in 2018. The event is completely flexible and encourages a positive atmosphere focusing on personal achievement not times or places!
Please click on the Events pages for more information.

If you have any equipment you could donate to us, please contact us at thearcticonefoundation@gmail.com

Tri Days

In 2017 we set up a “Para Tri-Day” with Inspire2tri in Rutland to enable para athletes to come and learn the basics of triathlon and have a go at the different aspects of the sport. We are planning on increasing the number of “Tri-Days” that we hold each year and we will continue to be working with expert coaches to give taster sessions on all three disciplines as well as what is involved with doing a para – triathlon. We aim to ensure that support is provided on the day to ensure that all participants get the most out of it and will provide further support to enable athletes to continue in the sport of Triathlon.

Please contact us if you can offer some support with coaching or would like to get involved as a participant.
